We, the undersigned, call on the California State Legislature and Governor Gavin Newsom to immediately reject Assembly Bill 495 — a dangerous piece of legislation that strips away parental rights and endangers children.

AB 495 would allow ANY adult to take custody of a child by signing a one-page “Caregiver’s Authorization Affidavit” — with:

Governor Gavin Newson

  • No parental consent or notification
  • No ID or background check
  • No court review
  • No protections against predators, traffickers, or abusers

Attorney Erin Friday calls it “a child trafficker’s and kidnapper’s dream bill.” Pastor Jack Hibbs warns parents to leave California “run with your kids” if it becomes law.

This is not just about California — if AB 495 passes, it will be copied by other states.
